Before taking over as Editor in Chief, I spent 8 years as a reporter for Worldwide Tax Daily. Early on I had a general tax beat covering issues such as the UBS scandal, then later I switched to a focus on transfer pricing. Transfer pricing is a difficult beat, but the most challenging stories to write were always the most rewarding.

 

In my time at Tax Analysts I have been on teams and took the lead on building website resources such as FATCA Expert and BEPS Expert to help readers make sense of issues with many moving parts. The challenge on these projects was to take a difficult and sprawling issue and find a way to present it so that it would feel intuitive.

 

As Editor in Chief I have the great fortune to lead a talented team with diverse skills and who do great work every day.

 

Every day I strive to make sure that the tax community is informed on the important developments in international taxation, including the OECD’s BEPS project and initiatives for information exchange. My team and I work together to identify emerging issues and innovative approaches to taxation from around the world to help fuel a robust debate on the challenges and their possible solutions.

When not at work, I care for my rescue dogs. My wife and I have adopted a pair of feisty Chihuahuas who visit my office on occasion.

 

Favorite influencer(s) (authors, bloggers, mentors, speakers, etc.)

 

Two of the biggest influences in my career path have been Thomas Field, the founder of Tax Analysts, and Yoram Keinan, a partner at Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP, who jointly taught an international taxation class I took in my final year of law school.  They introduced me to an area of the law that I immediately found — and continue to find — fascinating more than a decade later. I also credit Professor Ed Jaworowski, who taught Latin at Villanova University, whose classes are where I first began to understand and, more importantly, enjoy writing.
